Wharekauhau Country Estate is a luxury lodge and farm framed by the Remutaka Mountain Range on the North Island’s south-east coast near Martinborough. The Edwardian-style Grand Lodge welcomes guests with its warm, light-filled interiors, plush furnishings and open country kitchen, leading to a private courtyard and beautiful gardens. The 16 cosy Cottage Suites feature Super King beds, spacious living areas with gas fireplaces, double spa baths and private ocean-view terraces.

You will realize during your stay that we have a passion for food – for the producing of it, for the preparation and cooking of it and for presenting it. Our Chef manages all matters relating to the food we serve, from the Lodge’s gardens, the gathering of provisions from local gardeners and producers, sourcing the best meat and fish either directly from the farm or fisherman, the running of the kitchen, the creation of the seasonal menus and the service. Eating with us will, we believe, enhance and deepen your appreciation of what New Zealand has to offer.

Wharekauhau Country Estate Helicopter Transfer

YOUR ARRIVAL

Wharekauhau is a scenic 1.5 hour drive from central Wellington airport, or a 10 minute helicopter ‘hop’ around the South Coast. The important thing to remember is that while Wharekauhau Country Estate is isolated, it is extremely accessible. We can arrange a helicopter, private jet charter, private driver, or a rental car. If you are coming from further afield, you should allow a 4-hour drive from Napier, or a 5.5 hour drive from Taupo.

Make the most of the destination and throw a true destination wedding! The lodge becomes your own private manor house. A well-appointed blank (luxury) canvas for us to work on making those wedding dreams come to reality. Think poolside brunches, family clay shoot, spa treatments, infinite photography spots, long-table meals, cellar tastings, and of course walking down the aisle in true style! Accommodation is provided in 16 Cottage Suites dotted around the main lodge. In addition to these we have the ultra-luxe Foley Villa, a 3-bedroom standalone villa a short stroll from the lodge.
