This tour will take you on full day cultural heritage and geothermal adventure! Travel through forestry and farmland to New Zealand’s largest boiling mud pool. At Wai-O-Tapu, witness colorful hot springs and volcanic features, including the Lady Knox geyser eruption. Next, take a short drive to Waimangu Volcanic Valley where you will learn about the history and legends of the great eruption of Mt Tarawera. This afternoon, experience Rotorua’s Maori culture and geothermal activity with a guided tour of famous Te Puia. This includes a visit to the wood carving school, Rotowhio Marae, and Pohutu geyser. Round off the day with a visit the Lakefront to see the Maori War Canoe, Kuirau Park, and the tranquil lakes of the volcanic region.
